The Kapoor family travelled from Mumbai to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invite him to kick off the birth centenary celebrations of Raj Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan were spotted at a private airport in Mumbai on the occasion.

For the momentous occasion, Neetu Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor opted for white shalwar kameez, while Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt donned red outfits. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt posed for the camera in a black blazer and Saif Ali Khan in traditional attire.
Raj Kapoor Film Festival Announced
Ranbir Kapoor had announced a film festival to mark the centenary of Raj Kapoor’s birth at IFFI 2024 last month. The festival will be held across India from December 13 to 15. The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), and Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) have jointly started the work of restoring ten of Raj Kapoor’s films.
Ranbir Kapoor said
“We are organizing the Raj Kapoor Film Festival in December, in which ten of his restored films will be screened.”
Desire to make a biopic on Raj Kapoor’s life
Ranbir Kapoor has expressed interest in making a biopic on his grandfather’s life. He said:
“A biopic needs to honestly portray not only the successes but also the ups and downs of life and the complexities of relationships. It’s a tough job, and my family may not agree to it, but it could be a truly wonderful film.”
Raj Kapoor: Legend of Indian Cinema
Raj Kapoor took Indian cinema to new heights with classic films like “Awaara”, “Shri 420”, “Sangam”, and “Mera Naam Joker”. His films “Awaara” and “Boot Polish” were screened at the Cannes Film Festival, while “Jagte Raho” won the Crystal Globe Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Raj Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1971, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988, and several Filmfare Awards during his career.
