In a shocking revelation, director-producer Nikkhil Advani has disclosed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, notoriously known as the King of Romance, has a surprising disdain for love stories. This confession comes as a surprise to fans who have idolized SRK for his iconic romantic roles in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

During a recent interview on the podcast Cyrus Says, Advani shared, “Shah Rukh and I used to have these conversations so many times that ‘Karan and Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) only do love stories, let us do something different.’ Shah Rukh hates love stories. Considering that he is known as King Khan and King of Romance, this and that, but he hates love stories.”

Advani highlighted SRK’s fondness for films that deviate from the romance genre, citing Dil Se as his favorite. The director also mentioned SRK’s appreciation for sequences from Hey Ram and Darr, and his affection for Ram Jaane, where he dons a headband.

A Glimpse into SRK’s Creative Process

Advani further revealed SRK’s habit of subtly expressing his dissatisfaction with romantic storylines. “Shah Rukh Khan had this habit. Every time Karan or Adi would make him hear a new song and tell him their plans of shooting it in Switzerland and stuff, he would always come back and call the other film better. He used to constantly do that,” Advani said.

Uncredited Contributions

The director also shed light on SRK’s uncredited contributions to his films. Advani disclosed that SRK choreographed the iconic basketball sequence in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, treating it like an action scene. “Even when you see Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, he gets a credit called thrills. At the beginning of the film, he gets credit for thrills.”

As fans eagerly await his next release, they will undoubtedly be intrigued by this new perspective on the King of Romance’s cinematic preferences.

This unexpected revelation humanizes SRK, showcasing his diverse tastes and creative inclinations beyond his iconic romantic roles. As his fans continue to cherish his memorable love stories, they will now also appreciate his lesser-known appreciation for diverse genres and themes.
